Sell with us
Society Marketplace is a space for you to on-sell your gently pre-loved designer clothing, shoes and accessories without leaving the house, no matter where you live in New Zealand.
Marketplace provides both a sustainable and low maintenance approach to selling second hand items, ensuring the lifecycle of your no-longer-worn garments is extended while you earn for minimal effort.
50% (including GST) of the selling price of your items goes right back to you and a further 10% on top of this is donated to charity on your behalf. Right now we are proud to be working with Women’s Refuge and in these tough times would love to show them as much support as possible.
All Marketplace Vendors that we receive garments from in May will receive a $20 Society Voucher!
If you would like to sell your no-longer-worn designer womenswear, accessories and / or shoes on Society Marketplace find out how below. It’s easy, we promise:
How it works
Create an account with us and request to become a Marketplace Vendor.
Read our Marketplace T&C’s below and ensure your items meet our re-selling criteria.
Request a courier label in your account settings or email us directly for one at email@example.com. Package your items, attach the courier label and book the courier pick up. Your part is all done!
Once your items have been received & processed by us they will display in your account and online. The courier costs for collection from you and sending on to your garments new home will be covered by us. Once an item is sold, you will receive an email to let you know and your earnings will show in your account. You can use your earnings to shop on Society, these will show up as a ‘Use to pay’ option at checkout or you can email us directly to transfer the balance into your bank account, which will incur a $2 admin fee.
If you have any questions along the way please contact us, we’re happy to help.
WHAT WE WILL SELL:
We keep an open mind as to what we will sell for you as increasing a garments life cycle is the most important thing for us. Here are our guidelines to help you out when deciding what to send:
The items we receive from you will be processed and listed within a short timeframe. If you send us a chunky knit jumper in Summer we are going to have a problem selling it for you, so please before sending, think about whether you would want to be buying and wearing that garment in the coming months.
We are currently looking for High Quality Winter Designer Clothing & Accessories
In good condition
Please freshly wash items before sending and ensure they are in good repair with no stains, smells, pet hair, missing buttons, holes, broken zips, pulls, rips, scuffs etc. Clothing with faults will not be accepted. Our rule is we only sell what we would be happy to have in our own wardrobes.
We’re all about on-selling well made and timelessly styled designer goods made of quality fabrics. We’re very much not into anything that comes from a fast fashion chain. It’s just not what our customer is looking for and the make of these garments means they often deteriorate quickly, as their namesake suggests.
This is by no means an exclusive list of what we accept, just something to give you an idea of what works on Society Marketplace:
Ruby / Stella McCartney / Kowtow / Zambesi / Levis / Wynn Hamlyn / Maggie Marilyn / Burberry / Shjark / Nobody Denim / Salasai / Chloe / Lonely / Celine / Acne Studios / Rains / Veja / Overland / Bec & Bridge / Aje / Alexander Wang / Saben / Ganni / Isabel Marant / Rixo London / Cecilie Copenhagen / Yu Mei / Comme des Garçons / Zimmerman / Huffer / Bassike / Rag & Bone / Paris Georgia / Scanlan & Theodore / Deadly Ponies / Camilla & Marc / Gorman / Marle / Stevie May / Moochi / Maje / Georgia Alice / Status Anxiety / And of course all of the designers we sell on Society.
If you have a question about a particular garment or designer please get in touch, we do have the right to turn away goods that aren’t a good fit so would prefer you were 100% confident before sending.
Pricing will be determined by our team and will work on a sliding scale over an 8 week timeline to ensure that your garments sell:
Week 1 – 4: Full price
Week 5 – 6: Half price
Week 7 – 8: Clearance price
In the unlikely event that your garment does not sell within 8 weeks, we will contact you to determine what you would like the next steps for your garment to be.
Should we receive any items not acceptable for sale we will contact you to let you know. Couriers arranged to send any such items back to you will be at your cost. If contact is not made by reply within 14 days in regards to these items we will donate them to a local charity.
Due to the collaborative nature of the sale of Marketplace garments any purchased items will not be acceptable for return and refund to Society.
We reserve the right to use your items for promotional purposes. It’s all part of doing our bit to find pre-loved items new homes.
